Reflecting back on the AS year- What have I learned about music videos in June?

  • We learnt about how artists use their music video to promote their albums or singles to get money.
  • We learnt that music videos are there for people to watch, they're usually creative and entertaining, and if someone doesn't like the song they refer to the music video and watch it, most likely repeatedly. This is a good way to promote the song, generate viewers and make money.
  • We learnt about how when editing the music video, after every 4 beats it will cut to a different scene constantly.
  • We learnt about what base track editing is as we didn't know before.
  • How they come up with a concept.
  • How they film music videos
  • We learnt about mainstream music videos and independent ones, however, we didn't go in great detail about it. An example of mainstream is one direction, example of independent is Florida Georgia Line.
  • We learnt about the differences between high and low budget music videos.
  • How they promote things e.g. social media.
  • The costumes, mis-en-scene, props, the camera, editing and sound.
  • We learnt about the differences between a high budget and a low budget music video.
